While it is of great importance to make plans on how to recover from disaster, when it comes to disasters, few things go as planned. This is why at Duck and Cover BCS, we think it is important to be flexible. When disaster strikes, plans will inevitably need to be altered in order to fit in with reality and to achieve the ultimate goal of restoring your business to a functional state. In order to achieve this goal, we offer several solutions.
One solution is to store backups of your important data in our EMP proof vault in our secure facility. Since these backups are stored completely offline, no malware or hacker can get to them. Geographical separation from your own facilities helps to greatly mitigate natural disasters such as fire and earthquakes. Our facility is located 350 meters above sea level, built underground near the top of a mountain and as such it is mostly immune to flooding and outside fires. In case of an internal fire, the oxygen supply can be cut off, quickly starving the fire.
The other solution was designed especially for software companies who provide SaaS platform(s) to their customers. This solution focusses on how to keep your platforms online in case your company goes bankrupt, in order to ensure your customers have time to either find an alternative solution or, if so agreed, gain control of the platform(s) your company built for them.

EMP Proof Facilities
Safely store backups of your important data in our EMP proof vault in our secure facility. Since these backups are stored completely offline, no malware or hacker can get to them. Geographical separation from your own facilities helps to greatly mitigate natural disasters such as fire and earthquakes. Our facility is a former governmental cold war bunker, located underground near the top of a mountain, 350 meters above sea level in central Sweden. Designed and built during the cold war, this bunker can withstand almost anything. It has NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) air filtration systems, a backup power generator capable of running the entire facility and a specially built EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse) proof vault where we store the data carriers with your backups.
Equipped with sleeping quarters and a kitchen, our staff can remain on-site during disasters for an extended period. Several very heavy steel doors protect the facility from unauthorized entry and an extensive set of cameras with 24/7 recording and advanced motion detection systems allows continuous monitoring and surveillance.
Offline Backups
Recovering from a disaster is much easier when you have a complete backup to recover your IT infrastructure from. We keep the backup completely offline, so it is safe from hackers, malware and other online threats. With a simple backup schedule, you send us an encrypted backup, either weekly or monthly, for offline storage.
We offer tamper-evident envelopes for shipping so any tampering during transport can be detected.

With our hybrid solution, instead of sending us your backup tapes, you simply upload your encrypted backups to our systems via secure VPN. We then store these backups on tape and place these tapes in our EMP proof data vault in our underground bunker located near the top of a mountain, 350 m above sea water level in central Sweden. Equipped with sleeping quarters and a kitchen, our staff can remain on-site during disasters for an extended period.

Document Archive Storage
Businesses have important paperwork that must be kept for years. Much of this paperwork is not accessed often or at all and is just taking up space in your offices. We offer an archiving solution where you simply pack your paperwork into boxes supplied by us, enter a description and table of contents in our online system, then ship the boxes to us. They are then stored in our Data Bunker.
When you need one or more of your boxes, we arrange for them to be returned to you. We also offer a secure disposal option where your paperwork is permanently destroyed upon your request.

Software Escrow
Few SaaS providers consider what happens if disaster strikes and they end up going bankrupt. Too often this results in the sudden closure of their platform(s) and the loss of years of customer owned data. In order to keep your platform(s) operational, agreements can be made where we temporarily take over the server infrastructure and possibly other contractual obligations (for example SIM cards for IoT platforms), when certain conditions are met. This then allows your clients time to either switch to a different platform; retrieve their data, or when combined with our Source Code Vault solutions, take control of the platform(s) themselves. In order to provide this service, an Escrow Account needs to be created and money deposited into it, to cover the costs for the agreed upon period.
These accounts can be set up so that both we and your client are required to access the account.
Source Code Vault
By storing a copy of your source code in our source code vault, you can ensure that in case of bankruptcy, your client gains access to the source code for the platform you built for them.
